Design a practical little host kit: invitations, ingredient cards and gift tags that make a cookie swap easier to organize.
Choose a useful small bundle
Start with a cookie-swap host who wants invitations and clearly labeled treats. Sketch an invitation, a blank recipe card, an ingredient card and a simple gift tag. Favor useful writing space over lots of decorative pages. Treat the idea as a test; do not assume seasonal demand or guaranteed sales.
Write for real hosting needs
Include fields for the treat name, complete ingredients, date prepared and storage instructions provided by the maker. Do not label a blank card “allergen safe” or imply that a printable prevents cross-contact. Keep personal contact details off sample images. For invitations, show which details the buyer can edit.
Make original assets and test the files
Draw your own small stars, bows or cookie shapes, and use fonts and assets licensed for the product. Do not resell Feeling Crafty’s personal-use starter packs. Print in color and grayscale on US Letter and A4; check margins, cutting guides, writing space and any editing links before inviting buyers.
Build an honest listing
Show the actual printed prototype, a readable close-up and a clear list of included files. If AI was used in creating the product, check and follow Etsy’s current disclosure requirements. Avoid branded characters or designs you do not have permission to use.
Run one manageable experiment
Ask a few hosts to complete an ingredient card and assemble a tag. Watch where they hesitate. Estimate design, printing, support and customization time, and review current marketplace fees before setting a price. Launch only the format you can support reliably, then improve from actual feedback.
A clear ingredient card may be more valuable to a host than another decorative sign. Design for the job the person is trying to finish.
