A not-so-spooky phone photo corner
Build a peach-and-plum backdrop, find gentle window light, and make a short shot list that leaves room for real smiles.

Find the light first
Choose a plain wall next to a window, with light coming from the side rather than directly behind your subject. Turn off overhead lights if they create a different color cast. Take a quick test photo before taping anything to the wall.
Build a small backdrop
Hang a paper ghost garland high and safely out of reach. Keep the floor clear and leave enough space for someone to step in without tripping. One chair, one paper pumpkin and a little empty wall are plenty. Skip candles, dry ice and dangling cords.
Try five frames
Take a wide photo of the setup, a waist-up portrait, a close detail of hands holding a paper ghost, a laughing in-between moment and a top-down picture of finished crafts. Tap the subject on your phone screen to set focus, then lower brightness slightly if the paper looks blown out.
Make posing feel easy
Ask “Can you show me your ghost’s face?” or “What would this pumpkin say?” Give people something to hold. Never insist on smiling or touching another person. For children, follow their interest, keep a responsible adult present and stop when they are finished.
Share thoughtfully
Ask everyone before posting. Leave out name tags, school logos, addresses and identifying details in the background. Keep a private family album if anyone prefers not to appear online.
A slightly wonky ghost and a real laugh make a better memory than a perfect pose.
