Make handmade gifts shine in phone photos
A window, a sheet of paper and a few honest angles are enough to tell the story of a handmade gift.

Build a tiny studio
Place an ivory sheet of paper on a table near a window. Curve a second sheet behind the gift for a simple backdrop. Stand a white card opposite the window to bounce a little light into shadows. Keep the setup stable.
Show what someone will receive
Start with the complete item alone. Add a side view, a close-up of the finish, a size reference and the actual packaging. If you plan to sell it, make the quantity clear: one tag, a set of twelve, or the digital file only.
Style without misleading
A ribbon or mug can suggest scale, but say when props are not included. For a physical product listing, photograph the actual finished product. Keep generated concept imagery for clearly labeled inspiration, not as proof of what you made.
Leave room for different crops
Shoot a little wider than you think you need. Keep the important detail near the center so you can crop for a listing thumbnail or a vertical social post. Check the small thumbnail on your phone before calling it done.
Create a reusable shot list
Photograph each product in the same sequence, using the same background and light. Save the checklist beside your packing supplies. Consistency makes a small collection feel thoughtful without expensive equipment.
If the photo makes someone guess what is included, take one more clear image.
