STARTER GUIDE · AWAITING MAKER TESTING

Let’s make something lovely.

Before you begin: Adult cutting required. Keep yarn and loops away from toddlers; this is a display decoration, not a toy.

  1. 01

An adult draws and cuts a tree triangle roughly 15 cm tall with a broad trunk. Round sharp corners.

  2. 02

Cut shallow notches along the two sloping sides, spaced about 2 cm apart.

  3. 03

Tape a short yarn end to the back. Wind the yarn from notch to notch across the front without pulling hard.

  4. 04

Join another short length at the back when needed. Stop when the tree has the texture you like.

  5. 05

Tape all ends flat and draw a paper star to glue at the top. Display on a shelf instead of adding a long hanging loop.

A little helpful detail

Use short yarn lengths to make tangles easier to manage.

Make it personal

Try stripes of green, cream and a favorite unexpected color.

The diagram illustrates the project idea; it is not a maker-tested result. Allow additional drying time. Estimated materials cost excludes equipment. Check your equipment and material instructions, verify template dimensions, and make a sample before a batch.
