A reusable gift tote with your own lettering
Make a simple iron-on tote that becomes part of the Christmas gift.
STARTER GUIDE · AWAITING MAKER TESTING
Let’s make something lovely.
Before you begin: Adults handle the blade, weeding tools and hot press. Work on a stable heat-resistant surface away from children.
- 01
Check the tote label and the iron-on manufacturer’s compatibility instructions. Measure a flat print area away from seams.
- 02
Create a bold, short name or greeting. Keep letters large enough to weed without fragile details.
- 03
Before cutting, confirm the design is mirrored for iron-on and that the material is loaded with its liner as the manufacturer directs.
- 04
An adult weeds the excess material and positions the design. Use the exact temperature, pressure and time specified for this material, tote and press.
- 05
Follow the required warm or cool peel instructions. Let the tote settle and follow the material’s care and waiting instructions before washing.
Test on an offcut of the same fabric if available. Do not guess heat settings.

Make it personal
Use a family nickname or a small original tree silhouette.
The diagram illustrates the project idea; it is not a maker-tested result. Allow additional drying time. Estimated materials cost excludes equipment. Check your equipment and material instructions, verify template dimensions, and make a sample before a batch.
