STARTER GUIDE · AWAITING MAKER TESTING

Let’s make something lovely.

Before you begin: An adult handles cutting, wiring and power. Keep batteries and moving parts inaccessible to small children.

  1. 01

Open Kathy Ceceri’s linked Adafruit guide and review its full parts list before buying.

  2. 02

Build and test the electronics exactly as that guide describes before decorating.

  3. 03

Use a lightweight lid; test the servo’s movement with hands clear.

  4. 04

Add a friendly paper character, keeping moving parts unobstructed.

  5. 05

Test the finished box with adult supervision and disconnect power when finished.

A little helpful detail

Allow extra time for board setup and debugging. This is a guided electronics project, not a toddler activity.

Make it personal

Try a cheerful treasure chest instead of a scary monster.

The diagram illustrates the project idea; it is not a maker-tested result. Allow additional drying time. Estimated materials cost excludes equipment. Check your equipment and material instructions, verify template dimensions, and make a sample before a batch.
