STARTER GUIDE · AWAITING MAKER TESTING

Let’s make something lovely.

Before you begin: Stay within arm’s reach. Use age-rated washable materials; grown-ups handle cutting. Skip beads, buttons, loose magnets, batteries and other small parts around children who mouth objects.

  1. 01

Choose six prompts: a favorite meal, a funny journey, someone who helped, a family tradition, a new skill and a happy surprise.

  2. 02

Write one prompt per card in large clear letters. Leave space for a picture.

  3. 03

Let children decorate the borders with paper scraps and drawings, keeping the question easy to read.

  4. 04

Decorate a small box to hold the cards. Put one card beside each place setting or pass the box after the meal.

  5. 05

Invite answers without requiring them. Write down a favorite story on the back and add the speaker’s name with permission.

A little helpful detail

A “pass” is always an option; stories should feel like an invitation.

Make it personal

Record the same question each year to see how answers change.

The diagram illustrates the project idea; it is not a maker-tested result. Allow additional drying time. Estimated materials cost excludes equipment. Check your equipment and material instructions, verify template dimensions, and make a sample before a batch.
