STARTER GUIDE · AWAITING MAKER TESTING

Let’s make something lovely.

Before you begin: Stay within arm’s reach. Use age-rated washable materials; grown-ups handle cutting. Skip beads, buttons, loose magnets, batteries and other small parts around children who mouth objects.

  1. 01

Cut a paper rectangle about 10 × 20 cm. Fold the short edge back and forth in roughly 1 cm pleats.

  2. 02

Pinch one end of the accordion and glue the lower pleats together so the top opens into a fan.

  3. 03

Cut a broad teardrop body from card, then draw its face. Glue the body over the pinched end.

  4. 04

Fold a cardstock rectangle into a tent and write the guest’s name. Attach the bird above the front panel.

  5. 05

Check that the tent stands without tipping; shorten the tail or use a wider base if needed.

A little helpful detail

Older children can fold while younger children choose colors and draw faces.

Make it personal

Add a small “thank you for…” message inside each place card.

The diagram illustrates the project idea; it is not a maker-tested result. Allow additional drying time. Estimated materials cost excludes equipment. Check your equipment and material instructions, verify template dimensions, and make a sample before a batch.
